Software Engineering Internship @ Full Swing Golf

I worked at Full Swing Golf in the summer of 2024 as a Research & Development Intern (officially). This was my first real software engineering job. I mainly worked on a mini-golf game, as an alternative game to our main product, targeted towards kids. I also worked on a variety of other, smaller projects like a virtual golf shot debugger tool that injected a set payload of what the sensors see into the game to get a perfectly precise golf shot. I also wrote unit tests (which weren't as fun) and practiced my golf swing a LOT (which was fun!). Unfortunately, my project never made it to production, which was disappointing. Overall I learned a lot and I'm truly grateful to John and Bailey for giving me the opportunity and mentoring me.

Skills: C#, Python, Unity, Plastic SCM, Jira, Confluence, Golf

Initial testing on a gen 1 simulator rig. I was surprised when the sensors actually managed to track and translate the ball's motion (somewhat) successfully into the mini-golf game.
Continued testing/debugging on the gen 2 rig. Kept having the same physics issues as the gen 1 rig.
Testing alongside my awesome mentor Bailey. Still trying to get physics to work while testing whether the game would correctly enable or disable the sensors (it did).
Had to play golf at work for at least an hour a day. Here was my golf swing with a 7 iron after a little less than a month!
